Industrial Engineer- XPO

Our client is one of the top 10 global providers of transportation and logistics services with multi-billion in revenue and strong growth. They provide contract logistics, freight brokerage, less-than-truckload, truckload, last mile, intermodal, drayage, ground and air expedited freight, global forwarding, and managed transportation. 

Role you will play:
The selected candidate will be responsible for facility layout and design, manpower planning, project scheduling and management, engineering support for new Business development and sales, and other tasks assigned to support company objectives. 

Facility Design/Equipment Specifications
• Identify facility design requirements based on activity levels, product dimensional profiles, product flow and transportation methods
• Specify material handling and storage equipment solutions
• Identify and specify use of automation where justified
• Identify office equipment and facility up fit requirements
• Create equipment and operating supply lists and provide purchase requisitions
• Develop IT equipment (hardware & cabling) requirements based on activity levels and work content

 Manpower Planning
• Identify tasks and processes required to complete proposed work content
• Determine startup and ongoing personnel requirements based on work tasks, activity levels and product dimensional profiles
• Identify management and supervisory staffing requirements based on technical requirements of work required
• Identify technical skills and education levels required by job classification
• Provide job descriptions, shift requirements, and manpower level to HR for hiring

 Project Scheduling and Management
• Plan new client, facility, and process implementations
• Create implementation schedules using Microsoft Project
• Determine time estimates to develop, document, and implement existing and new processes
• Determine time estimates for implementing existing and new IT solutions
• Determine time estimates to specify, purchase, build, and install capital equipment, IT equipment, operational supplies, etc.
• Publish and update startup/implementation plans with key milestones, assigned responsibilities, and completion dates
• Demonstrate the ability to accomplish scheduled project milestones and completion dates personally and through managing and coordinating others efforts

New Business Development and Sales Support
• Document the technical solutions used to accomplish required work content requested by potential client.
• Write business proposals including graphics, illustrations, and Visio flow-charting
• Provide accurate labor, operational expenses, capital, and startup cost calculations to reflect work content to be provided
• Rollup labor, expenses, capital, etc costs to determine the total program cost for expected contract duration for submission to client.
• Demonstrate good client presentation and communication skills

Background Profile
• 2+ years of experience in Supply Chain Management/Logistics/Warehousing or related field
• 3pl experience desired
• Experience with project and resource management
• BA/BS degree in Engineering or related field preferred. Experience may substitute for degree
• Experience with analytical tools such as flow charts, Pareto charts, cause and effect diagrams, run charts, etc
• Expert use of Microsoft Office products
• Extensive experience in quality, engineering, lean manufacturing and work cell manufacturing, and best practices in a high volume production environment
• Experience in an AS9100 or ISO-9001 production environment
• APICS certification is a plus
• Up to 25% travel
